Labor & Delivery

At Thayer County Health Services, we deliver care you know and trust, offering comprehensive Prenatal, Labor and Delivery, Obstetrics, Family, and Well-Child services for every stage of your family’s journey. Our physicians—Dr. Heinrichs, Dr. Hubl, and Dr. Myers—are experienced OB/Family practitioners here at TCHS. From one-on-one care during labor to childbirth education, cesarean births, breastfeeding support, our TCHS Baby Camp program, certified lactation counselors, and more—we’re here every step of the way. We know this is a special time in your life, and we strive to make it a positive and memorable experience for you and your family. Our team is dedicated to creating a warm, relaxed atmosphere as we help you welcome your new little one into the world.

TCHS Baby Camp

At TCHS, Baby Camp is our personalized approach to childbirth education, designed to give you the information, support, and confidence you need for delivery. Early in your pregnancy, we’ll review financial and billing details with you so you feel prepared throughout your care. You’ll then return for a follow-up visit to tour our labor and delivery rooms, meet our nursing staff, and talk through what to expect during labor and birth. Baby Camp ensures you feel informed, comfortable, and ready to welcome your new baby.

Cesarean Sections at TCHS

Thayer County Health Services is fully equipped to perform cesarean sections when needed, ensuring the safety of both mother and baby. Our experienced family practice physicians, supported by a skilled surgical team, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff, provide timely and effective care for any C-section. This capability allows families to stay close to home while knowing that both routine deliveries and unexpected complications can be managed safely and effectively.

Ultrasounds

TCHS’s ability to perform ultrasounds provides patients with access to vital diagnostic care. Ultrasounds are an essential tool for pregnancy monitoring that helps providers quickly access patients and babies needs. By offering this service locally, it ensures timely care, early detection and peace of mind for patients and their families.

Bilirubin Lights

At Thayer County health Services, we are equipped to provide Bilirubin Lights (phototherapy) for newborns who may experience jaundice after birth. Jaundice is a common condition in newborns caused by elevated bilirubin levels, and phototherapy is a safe and effective treatment to help lower those levels. By offering Bilirubin Lights in-house, we are able to begin treatment quickly without the need for transfer, keeping both mother and baby together and providing peace of mind. Our care team closely monitors your baby throughout the process to ensure their comfort, safety, and quick recovery.

Breast Feeding Support

Thayer County Health Services offers breastfeeding support to all new nursing mothers who were our patients. Our Certified Lactation Counselor and experienced staff provide guidance, education, and encouragement—whether you’re just beginning or well into your breastfeeding journey.

Car Seat Safety

Thayer County Health Services is proud to have two Certified Car Seat Technicians on staff. Every parent receives car seat fitting education and a safety check before taking a newborn home. As children grow and transition into new car seats, we also provide ongoing education and checks to ensure your child is always riding safely.

Pelvic Floor Therapy

Our Rehabilitation Department offers Pelvic Floor Therapy to support mothers both in preparing for childbirth and in recovery afterward. This service is provided by our Occupational Therapist, Abby Walters.
