At Thayer County Health Services, our highly trained laboratory team works around the clock to deliver accurate, timely test results that are essential for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Laboratory professionals are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure reliable care whenever it’s needed.
We proudly provide services for the TCHS hospital and clinics, local nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Patients also enjoy the convenience of having tests completed locally—even if their specialist is from out of town.
Our laboratory offers more than 60 in-house, state-of-the-art tests in areas such as:
-
Chemistry
-
Coagulation
-
Hematology
-

-

For testing not performed on-site, we partner with Regional Pathology Services for specialized testing (including therapeutic drug levels, microbiology, and immunology), and with Pathology Medical Services in Lincoln, NE for pathology specimens.
Outpatient laboratory services are available Monday–Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To schedule an appointment, please call 402-768-4645.
Reduced Price Lab Event
Each fall, the TCHS Laboratory hosts a Reduced Price Lab Event where routine lab tests are offered at a discounted rate. Nearly every year, participants discover results that help them address health concerns they weren’t previously aware of—often allowing them to take action early and achieve better outcomes.
Awards & Recognition
The TCHS Laboratory earned a Certificate of Excellence in Newborn Screening for participation in the Nebraska Newborn Screening Program’s “Quality Improvement Initiative.” Only eight hospitals in the state have met all requirements for completion.
This initiative included updated training based on current Clinical Laboratory Standards, leading to improvements in newborn screening procedures and higher quality standards.
-
The newborn screen is a panel of tests performed on all newborns between 24–48 hours of age, designed to detect life-threatening conditions before symptoms appear.
-
Since the second quarter of 2007, TCHS has maintained a 100% satisfactory newborn dried blood spot specimen rate.
